Certified 24 years in Swedish massage
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between "certified" and "licensed?"
Certification means a massage therapist has been certified by an accredited massage school. Lincensure means a local or state agency is checking the background and educational credentials of massage therapists working in their jurisdiction. Since I just moved to New York, I am in the process of applying for a massage license from the state of New York.
Is your massage "sensual?"
My massage style is primarily Swedish, and that is traditionally considered both a therapeutic and sensual modality, in the literal interpretation of "sensual" as evoking the senses. It is not an erotic massage, which is becoming synonymous with "sensual massage" lately. I do not work on genitals or women's breasts; I only work on muscle tissue (except for the cartilege in the ears on the 90-minute massage). I work clothed. Clients must lie still during the massage.
What do I wear during the massage?
You need to undress completely, but if you prefer not to lie naked, you have the option of partial or complete draping (a towel or sheet over just the groin or the whole body, respectively). It is generally good to remove bracelets and necklaces.
Do you use oil or lotion?
I use a massage creme from Biotone that absorbs easily into the skin like lotion, but stays slick with one application like oil. You may shower after the massage, if you like, but generally wiping off the excess creme with a towel is sufficient. It does not stain fabric.
Do you offer any discounts?
Yes. Full-time students with a valid I.D. get $40 off. Union performers get $20 off. Occasionally, I offer a small discount for new clients. If you want to come to me for massage every week or every other week, you can get up to a 25% savings by prepaying at the beginning of each month. Those are my only discounts.
